God Dam Hair and Fur

Finding the right hair and fur for Clint and Humphrey was no easy feat. Many different furs were sourced, and each beaver went through an extensive design process led by Abigail Hill and Tamyrn LeGrant.

Two furs were selected, each with a subtle but unique color difference; however, the backing that the hair was on was much too thick and bulky.

Wefts of the hair were made by combing and sectioning out 1/4” strips of the fur

The fur was then cut along this part line to be glued into a little weft.

Two different adhesives were used depending on the part of the puppet to which they would be attached. Balloon Rubber was dabbed along the hairline to create wefts for the beaver bodies. Pros-Aide was used to create wefts for the beaver’s heads.

After drying on silicone paper, the wefts were then cut from the original backing, leaving about 1/8” of a strip to be attached to the puppets.

The balloon rubber wefts were sewn onto a stretchy brown mesh that was then sewn onto the puppet bodies. The Pros-Aide wefts were attached directly to the plastic beaver heads and wig cap.

Final styling and application were done by Abigail Hill, Tamryn LeGrant, and Luis Montalvo.
